Liz Forgan, Chair of Arts Council England ‘livechat’ 14 June 2012

We asked:

How are discussions going with the BFI about shared/crossover remit? I’m thinking specifically of animation, but there’s a lot more than that. What are ACE’s ambitions for moving image? And how do you ensure – even at Council level – that you have the requisite sector knowledge and expertise to engage meaningfully with such specialist areas?

And she replied:

Arts Council and BFI are currently in discussion about a potential partnership as work in film, visual art and media crosses over, particularly in animation and documentaries. The first fruits of these discussions is BFI contributing archive films to The Space – such as the short films from Ridley Scott and Ken Russell.
