Mapping creative animation

Animate Projects, in partnership with London College of Communication, is developing Accelerate, a new practice and professional development programme for animators – from across a broad range of creative animation practice: animators who make their own films and installation works, who work commercially on advertising, music video, interactive projects), and who work across and between art and commercial practice.

You can find the survey here.

Help us begin to map this changing landscape by taking part in the survey. We want to get a sense of what’s needed to develop, produce and manage creative animation projects (rather than technical or software skills). We want to hear from both people starting out and from people with experience. We want to hear from people in all kinds of roles.

We are interested in what work people are doing, and how they’re working – as employees or freelance, in creative studios (their own or as someone else’s), in collectives, and the kinds of ‘portfolio’ careers people are making for themselves.

We want to identify needs that have arisen from changing models of production, practice, and career, and to help better equip people to succeed in this fast changing context – whether making their own work or getting and delivering commissioned jobs.

As we continue to campaign for investment in animation, what you tell us will help us to gather evidence of the the extent of animation creativity in the UK.

Please also encourage others to take the survey.
